TEACHER MAGNET  FUND

TEF Teacher Magnet Fund

A primary goal of TEF is to help attract and maintain quality teachers.  TEF developed the Teacher Magnet Fund to assist in this pursuit.  Magnet Fund donations are accepted throughout the school year.  Faculty of the Telluride School District and the Telluride Mountain School may apply between March and early May each year, and grants are announced in early June, with funds being distributed at the first school board meeting in September.  A TEF representative will distribute specific information to teachers in early March informing them of the Magnet application requirements and dates.

Faculty wishing to apply need to submit a letter addressed to the TEF Magnet Fund Selection Committee.  The letter should provide a brief bio (one or two paragraphs) of the applicant and address the applicant’s near and long-term goals for involvement in Telluride’s schools.

A statement as to the intended use of the grant is required.  Examples of uses, which are specifically encouraged, include: financial support for graduate school, childcare, and down payment assistance on a house.

A current resume and three references from community members (parents, peers, administrators) must be included with the application letter.

Applications are evaluated on demonstrated commitment to students and the community, financial need, intended use of funds, and references.  Awards are contingent on a minimum two-year commitment to the Telluride School District or Telluride Mountain School.

No preset limits have been established as to the number or dollar amount for annual grant awards, but the totals must fall within anticipated annual fundraising goals.

TEF appoints a five-member selection committee comprised of one teacher, one parent, one administrator, and two TEF board members.
